The railgate is one of the most popular styles of liftgate on the market. It allows product to be raised and lowered completely level from the floor of the vehicle to the ground. This set-up is ideal for wheeled cargo. Other styles of liftgate may raise and lower on an angle creating a hazard for the driver loading or unloading the wheeled cargo. The railgate eliminates that problem. Railgates also have a flip-up cart stop as an option. When activated this spring-loaded section of the platform releases to help keep the wheeled cargo firmly in place. It is an added level of protection for the product. Anjer has railgates for sale in many different areas, some of which include: Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Philadelphia, Mercer, Lehigh, Northampton, Delaware, Ocean, Atlantic, Cumberland, Camden, Burlington, Salem, Cape May, Gloucester, Monmouth, Kent and Sussex Counties.

There are two main versions of a railgate; medium duty and heavy duty.  A medium duty railgate has lifting capacities ranging from 1300lbs to 3000lbs.  The liftgate weighs half as much as a heavy duty railgate which makes it an ideal set-up for light and medium duty vehicles.  They also have the option of lifting above the floor of the truck.  Some customers still need their product to reach dock height even though they are driving a medium duty truck.  An above floor option allows this to happen.  Other nice potential features include a cab cut-off switch to prevent the gate from being used when not necessary.  A hand held remote so the liftgate can be operated from multiple feet away from the vehicle.  Plus, multiple variations of a taper at the end of the platform.  This will assist the wheeled product to load easier if the taper at the end of the platform does not have a steep incline.

A heavy duty railgate has a lifting capacity ranging from 3000lbs to 6600lbs.  These railgates can weigh anywhere from 1200lbs to 1800lbs and are designed mainly for heavy duty trucks and trailers.  Along with a greater capacity the heavy duty railgate also has a much larger platform spacing available.  Some liftgates can have a platform depth of seven feet as well as a 16” taper on the end.  The deeper the platform the more load can be placed safely on the liftgate.  These liftgates can go above floor height and are extremely popular in the trailer industry.  On most trailer applications there are separate power units to operate the liftgate, some of which include a dual pump and motor.
